ABOUT ME
My name is Steve May, aka @steamtrainbbq.
I learned to cook by watching my grandmother, and about ten years ago, I took my skills outdoors, gaining momentum like many others during the pandemic lockdown.
My passion for BBQ grew through the support of family and friends who loved my cooking. It also allowed me to meet new people, visit amazing BBQ restaurants at home and in the USA, join a vibrant online BBQ community, attend BBQ masterclasses, participate in festivals, and, most importantly, maintain my mental well-being.
I would also say that the person who has influenced me the most, been my biggest mentor and supporter and who has given me some of these amazing opportunities is Charles Ramseyer, my very good friend and the owner of Socal BBQ shop
His passion for the world of BBQ, the companies that trade in it, big and small, old and new, the local producers, butchers, the worldwide BBQ community, its professional cooks, enthusiastic cooks and beginners alike, is both infectious and sincere.
